1. Carlos: Young dreamer, who has a great idea and dreams of commercializing it.
2.Santiago: Carlos’ friend, pessimistic and afraid of challenges.
3.Sebastian: Third friend who does not believe in dreams and makes fun of Carlos’ illusions.
ACT I
Setting: Living room with a table, chairs and a computer.
Introduction: Carlos is concentrating on the computer when Santiago and Sebastian enter.
Santiago (approaching Carlos and making a game of hands as a greeting): How are you brother, what’s got you so focused?
Sebastian (patting Carlos’ shoulder twice and leaning out to see what he is doing on the computer): What is Mr. Brainy inventing today?
Carlos (smiling without taking his eyes off the screen): How are you guys doing? Wait, I’m finishing a super idea, I’m going to get rich with this one!
Sebastian: You and your ideas again? How long do you dream about those impossible things?
Carlos They are not impossible, I dream of selling some of my ideas and making a lot of money.
Santiago (pulling one of the chairs and sitting down, while he puts his hand on his jaw) And aren’t you afraid of wasting so much time on those ideas and in the end not achieving anything? Time can’t be recovered, my friend, and you waste a lot of time dreaming, besides, how do you contact someone to help you sell those ideas?
Carlos (already a bit annoyed): Bah! you are birds of ill omen, do you want to leave me alone? I need to communicate with someone to whom I am going to offer my latest creation, a game that is going to be spectacular, and when I am loaded with money, I don’t want them around me as if they were very supportive.
Sebastian (laughing while he gently pushed Santiago towards the exit): You are crazy, come on Santiago, let the nerds keep on dreaming about getting rich, dreams are not something to live on, wake up!
Both leave the place and Carlos goes back to concentrate on his work.
ACT II
Setting: Same room where they had met before.
Introduction: Carlos with an astonished face reads something on the computer, gets up and picks up his cell phone to call his friends.
Carlos (with an astonished and happy face): Santiago, my friend, can you come to my house? I have something to tell you, but it’s now! come soon… Ok, I’ll wait for you.
While his friends arrived, Carlos walks with his cell phone still in his hand, from one side to the other with a smile on his face, not knowing what to do or how to hide his joy. His friends interrupt his movements as he enters.
Sebastian (with a hint of annoyance): Now what happened Carlos? You made us come running, hopefully this is not another one of your silly dreams and you made us stop what we were doing to listen to you.
Santiago (more understanding than Sebastian): Don’t listen, tell us what’s going on?
Carlos (looking at both of them with a smile on his face and taking a long time to utter a word) hmm, how do I tell them?
Sebastian (already stubborn) What if you try telling us and that’s it? Stop wasting time Carlos, finish telling us your last dream, we were at the video games having a great time.
Santiago (calming Sebastian) Let him talk, by his face it’s important what he’s going to say, isn’t it Carlos? For your sake, it better be like this.
Carlos (without losing his astonished face and the smile on his face): I did it! They are going to buy my game, my dream, they told me a while ago that they are going to do it and I am going to earn a lot of money.
Sebastian (incredulous): What do you call a lot of money? Nobody is going to turn off a lot of money for dreaming that you will be rich.
Santiago (rejoicing): that’s great, my friend, but aren’t you afraid of the responsibility, what if it doesn’t work out?
Carlos (calmer and taking a piece of paper from the table): Let’s go slowly, this is the amount they are going to pay me Sebastian – bringing the paper close to Sebastian’s face – And I’m not afraid Santiago, they checked it, they will make the necessary adjustments and I will achieve my dream, dreaming is possible, and making dreams come true is also possible if you are perseverant, did you get that Sebastian?
The three friends burst into laughter, hugging each other happily while Sebastian answers Carlos’ question.
Sebastian: Yes I got it and I think I’m going to start dreaming, my friends.
They hug again, happy for the news.
