ACT I
Setting: Karina’s room, sitting in front of her computer.
Introduction: Two girls talk in the room of one of them about their experience on an internet page where they signed up to meet guys, one of them is very focused and the other very relaxed.
Sofia (entering Karina’s room): Hi! Yesterday I sent you a message to come to my house and you didn’t answer me.
Karina (concentrating on her computer monitor): Hi, sorry, when you texted me I was chatting with Francisco.
Sofia (with a mischievous smile on her lips): And who is Francisco, don’t tell me you already met someone on the web page?
Karina (smiling back and looking up at her friend): He’s a wonderful guy, respectful, with very good conversation, very nice, I love him!
Sofía (approaching her friend enthusiastically): And you’ve already seen him, what’s he like, did you send him pictures, did he send you any?
Karina (laughing heartily): Calm down Sofia, you’re startled, you’re talking like a parrot, no pictures, we’re just getting to know each other, I can’t send information to someone I don’t know who he is.
Sofia (looking at her friend with a disapproving face): But aren’t you saying that you love him? So? I met a cute guy, he looks like a movie star, we’ve already exchanged photos, phone numbers and soon we’re going to meet.
Karina (astonished): Sofia, you’re crazy! How can you give so much information to someone you don’t know if he’s really who he says he is? You shouldn’t have done that, my friend.
Sofia (annoyed): Oh you always have such strict morals. Relax friend, they are kids and the only thing that is going to happen is a very exciting love story.
Sofia leaves her friend’s room without saying goodbye, and Karina remains thoughtful but then goes back to her computer.
ACT II
Setting: Sofía’s backyard
Karina arrives alarmed, answering her friend’s call, Sofia is sitting on the floor, crying slyly.
Karina (frightened by her friend’s crying): Sofia, what’s wrong, why are you crying?
Sofía (putting her hand over her mouth to tell Karina to lower her voice and speaking in a barely audible tone): Oh it’s horrible! you don’t know what happened!
The guy I met on the internet told me he wanted to see me, he was asking me about my house, my bedroom window, the entrance to the garden, my address, and I thought he really wanted to meet me. I told him everything he asked and yesterday he was supposed to come in the afternoon, he never came, but last night they entered through the garden and forced a window, they took valuable things from my parents and I suspect he had something to do with it. Now how do I tell my mom and dad?
Karina (dumbfounded): I hate to say this, but I told you Sofia…..and now I’m going to hate what I’m going to tell you, but you can’t keep quiet, you have to tell your parents, tell them everything.
Sofia (shaking her head): I’m going to be punished, I can’t tell them, I’m never going to turn on that computer again, it’s horrible what can happen there.
Karina (approaching her friend and taking her hand): It’s not horrible, if you take it with caution and responsibility. I keep chatting with the guy I met and everything is fine, we don’t talk about personal things, I take care of my personal data and we spend time together, good and bad things can happen, it all depends on how you handle the information. It’s over, I hope you have learned your lesson and now get up from the floor, we have to go tell your parents, take responsibility for what you did.
Sofia (getting up from the floor): You are right my friend, I deserve to be punished for being reckless, if I learned my lesson, I shouldn’t give my personal information to anyone on the internet, or send pictures to strangers, let’s go talk to my parents.
Karina takes Sofia’s arm as a sign of support and together they leave the scene walking to tell everything to Sofia’s parents.
