SINGLE ACT
Setting: The family’s house.
Introduction: Yuri was cleaning the furniture in the house when Orlando arrives to ask her for coffee.
Orlando: Good morning Yuri, bring me a coffee please.
Yuri: Good morning sir, I’ll bring you a tea, caffeine is bad for you.
Orlando: Yuri, I don’t want tea, I asked for a coffee.
Yuri: That’s why, but since coffee is harmful to your health, I’ll bring you a tea, it’s healthier. No more talk, I’ll come with your tea.
Orlando (getting annoyed): Yuri, I don’t want a tea, go to the kitchen and bring me a coffee.
Yuri (pretending to be offended): Ok, don’t get upset, I’ll bring you your coffee, but when you start to feel bad, don’t say I didn’t warn you. One tries to help here but…
Orlando (interrupting annoyed): Yuri, the coffee!
Yuri: I’m coming, I’m coming, what a lack of patience.
Yuri goes out to get the coffee and Felicidad enters still getting the laziness out of her body and yawning.
Felicidad: Good morning love, how did you sleep?
Orlando (ironic): Not very well, you snored all night.
Felicidad (offended): Me snoring? Orlando, but I don’t snore.
Yuri enters with the coffee in his hand and hands it to Orlando without any care to get into the conversation.
Yuri: You don’t snore, you say? Ma’am, if you sleep in that room and you think there is a bear inside.
Felicidad: Yuri, who asked you?
Yuri: Nobody, but as I am a witness, I have an opinion.
Orlando: Yuri, why don’t you go and see if I parked the car properly, and if not, put it in a good place.
Yuri: Sir, I don’t know how to drive
Orlando: Never mind, do as I say and get out of here please.
Yuri (walking towards the exit): They don’t thank you, you love them as if they were your family and they are ungrateful, they don’t thank you.
Yuri leaves the place and Felicidad takes Orlando’s coffee cup and starts to drink it, while he looks at her without blinking.
Felicidad: And Zaida is not up yet?
Orlando: No, Zaida has always been very lazy, but lately she sleeps a lot more than usual.
Felicidad: Is she sick?
At that moment Zaida appears
Zaida (throwing herself on a sofa with a sleepy face): You were asking about me?
Felicidad: Daughter, are you sick? You sleep a lot.
Zaida: No mom, I’m not sick, it’s normal, I’m tired.
Yuri, who had been listening, enters again.
Yuri: Of course it’s normal, in her condition she sleeps a lot.
Orlando: What condition?
Yuri: Ah, but don’t you know?
Zaida (somewhat nervous): Yuri shut your mouth, nobody is talking to you.
Felicidad: Orlando I ask you what condition, Yuri?
Yuri: Miss Zaida, when are you going to say the news? Your parents have the right to know that they will be grandparents.
Orlando and Felicidad (at the same time): We will be what?!
Zaida gets up from the sofa and leaves quickly, while her parents go behind her ordering her to stop and explain, Yuri is left alone in the living room talking loudly.
Yuri: I don’t like gossip, I don’t like to meddle where I’m not called, I’m very discreet, but that girl had to talk.
