ACT I

Setting: Room decorated like esoteric rooms, with candles, sun motifs, stones, quartz.

Introduction: Madam and her assistant are relaxing in the salon when they hear the doorbell ring, the assistant goes to see who it is and hurries back to Madam.

Assistant (waving his hands as a sign to hurry): Put on your turban, the next customer is here. Remember everything I told you about her? Be convincing.

Madam (Putting on the turban and sitting down in front of the cards on the table): Yes, send her in, I have everything clear, there comes more easy money.

The assistant goes to the door and returns with two women to whom he signals to take a seat.

Sara (sitting in one of the chairs in front of the Madam at the same time as Beatriz): How is Madam? I have been told that you are the most accurate fortune teller in the whole region and I have come to have your tarot read to me.

Madam (with an air of superiority): That’s right, I can read your future, talk to your dead, attract your loved one, ward off bad influences, there is no one in the whole region who can surpass my powers.

Beatriz (astonished): If you are really so good, next week I’ll come to have you read my tarot for me.

Assistant (intervening to persuade Beatriz): Yes, but next week because this is by appointment, Madam can’t be saturated with work.

Madam (interrupting): Let’s begin, keep quiet (she begins to shuffle the cards, puts them on the table and turns to Sara) Cut in three, past, present and future.

Sara cuts the cards silently, the Madam takes a deck of cards and placing it on her forehead makes a sound as if to attract energies and begins to place them on the table.

Madam: Here your past says that you were a very trusting woman, you had a disappointment in love that made you move away from where you are from, in the present you are alone, but don’t worry, soon love will come to your door. You will have health, money and you will live happily with that man and the two children you will have.

Sara: How right! How did you know about my past? If you could guess that, I have to believe that my future will be as good as you say it will be.

Madam: That’s with my assistant, he will charge you outside.

Sara and Beatriz get up and when they are leaving the house Beatriz stops Sara.

Beatriz: Wait, I didn’t make my appointment, let’s go back to make it.

Sara: Right, let’s go back.

The girls return without warning that they are entering and manage to hear the comments of the Madam and the assistant.

Assistant (laughing in a mocking way): How easy it is to get money out of these people! I go out for a while, find out their lives and they fall for it like fools.

Madam (also laughing): And they leave so convinced.

Sara and Beatriz are surprised and Sara tries to leave, but Beatriz stops her and makes her go to Madam.

Beatriz: I’m sorry, I forgot to make my appointment, what day can you see me?

Assistant (answering before the Madam): Next Thursday, for that day you can come.

Beatriz: Very well, I’ll see you then, thank you.

The girls leave the Madam’s house, Sara without understanding anything of what Beatriz is up to.

ACT II

Setting: Same esoteric room.

Introduction: Sara and Beatriz arrive again at Madam’s house, this time accompanied by a boy, but only the two of them enter and the boy hides before they can see him.

Beatriz: Hello, you don’t know how anxious I’ve been waiting for this day.

Madam (feeling very important): It always happens like this, it’s the desire to know what will happen to you in the future.

Sara (asking as if she was very interested): Madam, is it true that you talk to the dead?

Madam: Of course, I receive their signals and messages.

Beatriz (pretending to be frightened): And you are not afraid of that?

Assistant (laughing): Afraid? Madam is not afraid of anything.

Sara (very scared): Well, that’s good because I’m seeing a ghost behind you and I’m really scared.

Beatriz (screaming and climbing on the chair): Yes, I see it too, I don’t want to be here!

Madam: Ghost? What ghost?

The madam and the assistant turn around at the same time to meet the ghost behind them.

Assistant (very scared and screaming): Yes it’s a ghost Madam Run!

The madam and the assistant run away terrified and Sara, Beatriz and the boy who takes off his disguise start to laugh making fun of the fright of the swindlers.

Beatriz (still laughing): I told you I wouldn’t fail! They’re not going to scam anyone anymore.
