ACT I

Setting: A street full of garbage.

Introduction: Tronte and Katharina are playing in the street when they see Robinson and Kate coming, eating snacks and throwing them on the ground.

Tronte: (Walking towards Robinson) Hey, what are you doing? Why don’t you throw the garbage in the garbage can?

Robinson: (Laughing and pushing the boy) Out of my way, I throw the garbage where I want.

Katharina: (Annoyed and holding Tronte a little) Can’t you see that you pollute the earth? Our world is coming to an end thanks to people like you.

Kate: (Laughing mockingly and repeating what Katharina said) Ha Ha Ha Our world is ending. Tronte’s father pays people to clean the streets, we have to give them work, if they are clean why paying?

Tronte: Just because my father is the mayor of this city doesn’t give me the right to make it dirty, much less you. You are a couple of slovenly, ill-mannered people.

Tronte starts walking and Katharina catches up with him. Robinson and Kate leave the scene. Sebastian approaches them walking very slowly.

Sebastian: Hi guys, how are you?

Katharina: Very upset! Robinson is dirtying the streets and polluting the planet and we can’t do anything about it.

Sebastián: (with a smile on his lips) Of course we can. Tronte, call your father, I have an idea that they will love, come and I’ll tell you – Tronte approaches and Sebastián whispers his idea in his ear.

Tronte smiling, takes his phone and calls his father.

Tronte: Hi dad, can you come to Central Street? I have a very good idea, and together with Sebastian and Katharina we want to put it to you.
After a few seconds while they talk without the public listening, just watching their corporal expression, the mayor arrives.

Mayor: Hello guys, what is so important that you have to tell me?

Katharina: How are you Mr. Mayor? We want to do a garbage collection campaign, we are going to clean the streets. But we want you to promise us that once they are clean, you will sanction whoever dirties them again.

Mayor: I think it is a good idea. Let’s go to the mayor’s office and think about the plan very well.

They all leave the scene.

ACT II

Ambience: The same street full of waste.

Introduction: The boys with bag in hand pick up the garbage from the street, until it is completely clean.

Sebastián: How much garbage there is in the street!

Tronte: So much pollution! They don’t know how much damage they are doing to the planet.

Katharina: It won’t be long now, don’t give up, just a few more papers and we’ll be done.

The boys finish picking up the garbage and when they finish they celebrate by high-fiving and smiling.

Sebastián: Finally! What a difference it makes now.

Tronte: The city is beautiful and it should stay that way.

Suddenly they see Robinson approaching, who once again throws a plastic cup on the floor. Tronte starts to walk to complain, but sees his father approaching.

Mayor: Young man, stop.

Robinson: (frightened to see the mayor) Yes, tell me.

Mayor: The streets have been cleaned by a group of collaborating children. You have made them dirty again and as punishment, you will have to pick up the garbage from the next 3 blocks. By tomorrow afternoon they should all be clean.

Robinson: (trying to defend himself) But Mr. Mayor, that is a lot of work.

Mayor: that’s right, it’s less work to take the garbage to a bucket and protect our planet. I hope that after you finish cleaning up, you will learn to put the garbage in its place.

Mayor: Come on guys, I’ll buy you an ice cream for your good deed.

Tronte: Yessssss I love the earth!

The boys walk towards the mayor and everyone leaves happy for that ice cream. Robinson leaves the scene looking at the ground in sorrow.

THE END.
