ACT I
Ana: I’m very upset, the day they chose the work teams, you didn’t come and they forced me to work with Rosa, she didn’t do anything, I did all the work and I’m not going to put her name on it, I’ll tell the teacher she didn’t work and she’ll lose her grade.
Julia (astonished): Will you dare to take her out of the work? Rosa is vindictive and I know she needs that grade to be able to pass that subject.
Ana (shrugging her shoulders): I feel sorry for her, she should have thought about it before leaving all the work to me.
Julia (with a worried tone): I have a problem, I have to give my part of the expenses for the work with the group I worked and I don’t have it, I participated in everything, but if I don’t pay, it could happen to me like Rosa and I need that score….
Well…. I’ll solve it!
Ana (putting her hand on Julia’s shoulder): You’ll see that you won’t lose that grade, we’ll do something.
Ana gets up from the bench and goes to the classroom, Julia is left alone and Rosa approaches.
Rosa: Hi Julia, I overheard what you were talking about with Ana and I have a proposal for you, if you take the work out of Ana’s bag and give it to me, I’ll pay you and you can cancel what you owe and get your grade.
Julia (annoyed): That’s stealing and I don’t do that Rosa.
Rosa (smiling maliciously): You need the money, are you going to lose the subject, for loyalty? If I were you I would think about it!
Julia, feeling confused, remains thoughtful for a few seconds, doubting if she should do what Rosa asks her, and then answers
Julia (determined): I’m sorry Rosa, no money can buy a good friend, friends don’t betray, so get out of here.
Rosa (annoyed): You’ll lose your qualification because of cheap sentimentalism? How clumsy!
Rosa gets up from the bench and Julia goes in search of Ana who is reading the work they have to hand in.
Julia (embarrassed): Ana, Rosa asked me to steal your work and she would pay me what I need to do it, but you are my friend and I refused, I would never betray you.
Ana (smiling and taking Julia’s hand): Thank you friend for your loyalty, you don’t have to betray me to get that money, I will give you what you need and you will get your grade.
Julia (happy): Really? thank you my friend!
Ana (hugging her): thanks to you for not betraying me my friend, now we are going to pay what you owe.
They both walk through the courtyard, until they get out of sight.
